The Lake of the Pines Security Patrol is a group of members that volunteer their time to make Lake of the Pines a safer and more enjoyable place to live and play. The patrol consists of fifteen teams of volunteers that each patrol two weeks during the summer months (one week at a time) in their own vehicles. The patrol also has four boats that patrol the lake on a regular basis enforcing the no wake law and warning members of unsafe activities. The main purpose of the patrol is to check all common property for proper vehicle identification stickers, and patrol all of L.O.P roads and property checking for any suspicious activities. The patrol is sanctioned by the Clare County Sheriff Department and works in close contact with them. It should be noted that these volunteers do this without being paid except for a small gas allowance.

L.O.P Security Chicken Bar-B-Q Dinner & Lake of the Pines 40th Anniversary Bash

A fantastic weekend at Lake of the Pines took place on August 7th and 8th. Saturday was filled with ringing of bells from those that won a loner hand in Euchre, voices of karaoke singers of all ages, and smiles on everybody's faces that had attended. Saturday evenings was ended with a song from a young little girl who sang "God Bless America". Bringing tears to everybody's faces and the applause was HUGE. It was a great way to end a great evening!

Sunday's lunch was fantastic! All the games and contests were exciting! The kayak raffle and chest raffle has come to an end with Dick Meitz winning the kayak and Geri Shaw winning the chest. Congratulations to both of you! A big congratulations to all the winners of the pie eating contest, watermelon seed spitting contest, water balloon toss, and cake walk! The dunk tank was a sight to see when Bob "The King" Karl got dunked. Mrs. Geri Shaw also joined in the fun by getting in the dunk tank. Thank you to the rest of the volunteers that jumped in the dunk tank also!

A BIG thank you goes out to everyone that volunteered to make this event special! A fantastic way to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of such a great Association. Without our volunteers this event would not have been possible. Thank you once again.

"I just wanted to thank everyone who attended this years Chicken bar B Q it was the most successful one that we have ever had. I also want to thank all of the volunteers that helped in making it such a success. To everyone that made those delicious desserts they were out of this world. Thank all of you again for all of your support. The rest of the evening was just as enjoyable with the euchre contest and the karaoke being well attended. I don't have an official count on the crowd at the karaoke but the pavilion was jammed and everyone was having a great time singing and dancing. The highlight of the night was at the end a little girl about 6 years old sang "God Bless America " and I don't think their was a dry eye in the crowd. It was also great to see so many NEW faces in the crowd. If you didn't attend you really missed having a lot of fun. Thanks again for all of your support for the Security Patrol."

Sincerely,
Leo Stevens
